Tis the season for cozy drinks at home! While I love to run to a coffee shop for a little break, it’s convenient to have some ingredients on hand to whip up something for yourself (or guests) in the comfort of your own home! I’ve posted these drinks on different occasions on my Instagram Stories and always get asked how to make them or where I got certain ingredients, so I thought it would be helpful to share it all in one blogpost and give you some ideas. I love taking the time to make these either in the mornings or when I am about to curl up with a good book and light some candles. They’re quick and easy (but most importantly, delicious)….
Pumpkin Spice Latte
When I enjoy it: Cozy fall mornings, after lunch as a nice “treat” or dessert drink.
We have to start with the official drink of the season: the PSL. When you’re looking for something sweet in the morning (or perhaps for dessert), I like having the instant packs from Starbucks in our pantry. To make it a little healthier, I opt for coconut whipped cream — yes it exists! It’s just as good as the real stuff and sprinkled with some cinnamon on top — it’s a big treat. I picked it up at Longo’s if you’re Canadian (I’ve also seen it at Loblaws and Whole Foods). Also, I recently discovered Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate – so you can always substitute this recipe with that instead of the coffee (if you can’t handle caffeine).
How I Made It:
+ 1 PACK OF STARBUCKS VIA INSTANT PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE
+ POUR IN HOT WATER (BOILED)
+ TOP WITH COCONUT WHIPPED CREAM TO DESIRED AMOUNT
+ SPRINKLE WITH CINNAMON
Detox “Elixir”
When I enjoy it: Everyday! This is a healthy and revitalizing beverage you can enjoy daily or when you’re sick with a cold.Â
I love this drink all year round for many reasons. The biggest ones are that it helps with digestion, de-bloating, detoxing and if you’re sick, this drink will soothe your throat and kill bacteria! It helps relieve your symptoms, and the natural medicinal properties actually ease your cold/flu and boost your immune system. I have this drink a few times a week (even when I’m not sick) because it’s just really beneficial from a health perspective and protects me against colds. Honey has healing properties that are antibacterial, lemons are rich in Vitamin C and protects your immune system and ginger helps maintain your blood circulation, chills, fever and nausea with its contents of magnesium and zinc. You can add some cinnamon sticks and make it a healthy (virgin) hot toddy too!
How I Made It:
+ BOIL HOT WATER
+ CHOP LEMON SLICES (I USUALLY USE TWO & SQUEEZE EXCESS IN)
+ CHOP A SMALL PIECE OF GINGER (PEEL SKIN AROUND ENDS) INTO SMALLER BITS
+ MIX ALL TOGETHER IN A MUG WITH RAW HONEY
+ ADD CINNAMON STICKS FOR FLAVOUR/GARNISH
Iced Chai Latte
When I enjoy it: 1-2x a week with breakfast for a refreshing wake-up boost! It’s quite sweet so I usually poor just a little and blend the rest with almond milk.Â
I shared this in my What I Eat In A Day video on my YouTube channel, but wanted to post it here again since it’s a nice refreshing drink. This one is a treat as well (like the PSL), and I don’t drink it everyday, but I enjoy it here and there. I love these iced! Just pour it over ice with your milk of choice (I drink almond and coconut milk, not dairy). I picked up the Starbucks Tazo brand one at Walmart.
How I Made It:
+ FILL YOUR MUG WITH ICE
+ POUR HALF A CARTON OF TAZO CHAI LATTE (BLACK TEA CONCENTRATE)
+ BLEND WITH EQUAL PARTS OF YOUR MILK OF CHOICE (I USE VANILLA ALMOND MILK)
+ STIR WITH A STRAW AND ENJOY!
Hope you enjoyed this post and if you end up trying any or all, let me know which one was your fave (and tag me on social if you post about it @stephsterjovski). xoxo
