You always hear breakfast is the most important meal of the day and I will admit there were years I skipped it. I’d just wake up have a drink on the go and then hit a wall (not good, or healthy or very nice to do to your body). I think part of my struggle was feeling like I didn’t have enough time (excuses, excuses) but whenever i’m not satisfied with an area in my life I put myself to the task to change it. Over the years, I’ve found and created delicious breakfasts but these are the ones I always go back to no matter what. They’re nutritious, quick and taste so good! Back to school or work, the summer is coming to an end and schedules get busier and fuller in September (I can’t believe we’re already here). Here are a few of my quick and easy breakfast ideas…

AVOCADO TOAST

This is a popular breakfast because it’s quick, easy, nutritious and delicious! You also can’t get bored of it because there are so many variations to create. Sometimes I do cherry tomatoes on top, or a fried egg. You can add different ingredients each time, but even on it’s own with some sea salt and pepper it’s delicious! I have been using this Trader Joe’s “Everything But The Bagel” seasoning on top and it adds a little crunch and flavour. I love going to Pinterest and searching “avocado toast recipes” and discovering different ways to switch up this breakfast favourite.

SMOOTHIES

If I’m in a really tight pinch for time, I throw whatever I have in my fridge/freezer into my Vitamix and blend it up with some protein powder. My top ingredients are PROTEINsmart, frozen mango, banana and Sambazon Acai smoothie packs (frozen from Whole Foods).

PROTEIN PANCAKES

One of my favourite recipes I pulled from the Tone It Up nutrition plan were these simple pancakes that are healthy for you: 1 scoop of your protein powder of choice, 1/2 banana mashed, 1/4 cup egg whites, 1/2 tbs almond milk, 1 tsp cinnamon and blend! Pop them on the stove and flip until you have perfect pancakes.

Not as healthy, but extremely delicious: these Coconut pancakes I got from Trader Joe’s in the US. You literally just add water and you’re done! They’re a nice Sunday morning treat…

Hope you enjoyed this post and if you’d like more easy hacks/recipes for the busy season I’d love to share more of what we do everyday! Let me know in the comments below…
