I know it’s technically still summer, but the minute it says September on my calendar, I do a whole entire closet flip! I can’t wait for coats, cozy sweaters, blazers and booties. Fall is one of my favourite times of the year, not just for fashion but because the temps drop a little, the leaves turn to the most beautiful colours, candles are lit and blankets are layered on the couch. I’m definitely not ready for winter, so I hope the fall is long and enjoyable but to help you prepare to transition your closet I rounded up a few pieces I think you should own!
I’ll be filming a fall haul for my YouTube channel and doing a try-on of some fall staples, but in the meantime these are some things I am loving…
Cardigans
I love these because I usually start out the season just wearing these as my “coat” when it’s still mild out, and usually pair it with a tee tucked into high waisted denim. They’re also just cozy to hang out in when you’re at home! A neutral knit like white or beige goes with everything.
Blazers
Every gal needs one of these in her closet, even if she doesn’t work in a corporate environment! You’ll feel instantly polished when you throw a blazer on over even a simple white tee and it dresses up your outfit. Pair with black trousers or ripped denim (for a more casual vibe) and you look put together! Invest in something that will last you for years because this never goes out of style, but if you are working on a budget I just picked up grey/checked double breasted jacket from H&M and it was under $50!
Waterfall Coat
Whether it’s a teddy or wool fabric, fall is a great time for these coats because they don’t usually button up (and you still want the weather to be mild to get away with that). They just look so cute and I love how it cascades. It’s a nice update from the typical trench/topcoat look.
Chelsea Boots
My most worn piece (with dresses, pants etc.) in the fall are Chelsea boots! I picked up this pair that have a bit of a Western twist to them and have interesting stud details. Each year I usually update my boots since I wear them into the ground. They come in so many colours and I usually opt for camel, but this time I got olive suede just to mix it up!
Moto Jacket
The suede moto jacket is a piece that I love bringing out this time of year and styling over delicate dresses with heels but also mixing it up with a white tee and skinny jeans. It makes you feel a little more edgy and it makes for the perfect “date night” look!
Fedora Hat
I love hats no matter the season, mostly because they save my bad hair days but a beautiful fedora also just makes any outfit a little more chic.
Hope this helps you start thinking about your own fall wardrobe, more content to come for this exciting season ahead!
