Living in Ontario, many people go off to Muskoka to their cottages for long weekends and summer retreats. Not owning a cottage myself or knowing anyone that does in that area, I had never made the trek up there until last week when JW Marriott Muskoka offered us a complimentary stay. This time of year is gorgeous, the fall foliage is stunning and a little escape from the city was just what we needed so naturally we leaped at the opportunity…
The perfect weekend travel bag!
Upon arrival we had some much needed spa time after the two hour car ride. We got cranberry body scrubs (fitting as we were there during the Cranberry Harvest), enjoyed some time in the outdoor jacuzzi and took in the amazing views and clean air.
After the spa, we went for a long walk on the grounds. It was so beautiful and relaxing…

Later that evening we had dinner at Muskoka Chophouse and sipped delicious wine while looking out to the lake and outdoor bonfires. It was just one of those cozy, fall, perfect nights.
The next morning we took things slow and read our magazines and books on the beautiful deck attached to our room overlooking Lake Rosseau with some hot chocolate. I wish I could just move in and enjoy that deck everyday!

After we checked out of the hotel we went to Johnston’s Cranberry Marsh & Muskoka Lakes Winery. We had an amazing time doing the wade in the berries, see our fantastic outfits below for a good laugh…

We tasted different cranberry and blueberry wines and took some bottles home with us to share with our friends and family.

If you’re in the hustle and bustle of life, I highly suggest a little getaway out in nature, it was truly so good for our souls and we came back refreshed as ever ready to take on another busy week (the smiles above in our blurry selfie say it all). Grateful for rest.
