It’s a new year, and everyone has been talking about their goals and resolutions. I’m not one to make resolutions, but I do like to have a vision for what I’d like the year ahead to look like. I was sipping on a delicious Nespresso SELECTION VINTAGE 2014Â and it got me thinking about the old and the new. Get this, not every coffee gets the privilege to express itself by maturation and only certain types of coffees age well. The coffee has been aged for three years (one part of the beans roasted lighter, and the other part darker), it’s complex and woody and at the bottom of each capsule it says, “2014.”
It got me thinking about how much has changed since then and what a privilege it is to grow older and experience more with every coming year. I’ve become a wife, settled into our own condo, travelled to places I had only dreamed of and so much more. We plan, but ultimately, things change and I’ve learned to receive this idea that we have to adjust our sails. Grace carried me through the years and got me to where I am, and by grace i’ll get through another year, and I put my faith in that. So you see, I admittedly don’t put major pressure on myself anymore (there was a time I used to), my motto has never changed since I started my business and that is to work hard and be kind to people. Go ahead and plan, write down what you’d like to accomplish this year, and work toward it, but I’m also a huge believer in visualization. Something I like to do at the beginning of the year is creating a vision board. It lets me dream, and anything that’s added (as life will always throw surprises) I was not expecting, I am grateful for too (the good and the bad)!
I used to cut out magazines, and print quotes I loved and hung them on a bulletin board in my bedroom when I was in high school and that kind of stuck with me into my adulthood. Now, I have one that lives on my Pinterest board that I can reference at anytime from my phone or computer, no matter where I am in the world. It fires me up and excites me to create more memories and moments, rather than pile on the pressure and lists. Try it out! One day, 2017 is going to be vintage, so make the most out of it while it is here and be present.
Wishing you all the best for your new year! XOXO
