I am so excited to share a little slice of our home today, starting with our kitchen! If you’ve been following the hashtag #JollyAbode on social media, you’ll know Neal and I embarked on renovations back in March for our home sweet condo in Toronto. We’ve been consulting with Jacquelyn Clark of Lark & Linen who has helped us pull the strings together in our little abode. Today I’m taking you into our kitchen which underwent a huge transformation from where we started! We teamed up with some great companies as well, which I’ll be sharing more on below and an amazing giveaway from GE Appliances you won’t want to miss. Keep reading below…
We wanted a white, bright kitchen, but since we knew we wouldn’t be staying here for too long, we decided to go for some quick fixes that wouldn’t be too hard on our budget and still look great. We opted to paint the cupboards and island and switched out the knobs which made a huge difference. The floors got a revamp as well and that opened the space up immensely…
Subway Tile: Home Depot | Black Faucet: Home Depot  | Matte Cabinet Handles: Home Depot c/o | Basket: Storage Solutions | Jars, Pots & Plants: IKEA
I’ve always loved subway tile in restaurant kitchens and coffee shops and it tied in with all of our black and white in the condo. It’s a subtle statement piece that just gives the space more interest and makes it feel like a bistro! It is much more inspiring to cook (and I can use all the inspiration I can get), in a space that is pretty…
We teamed up with GE on all of our appliances (scroll down for our huge giveaway details at the bottom of this post). Neal and I love the slate grey finish on all of the appliances, which was a nice way to pull in our countertop granite. The matte look also hides fingerprints, which is amazing because it looks clean at all times and very easy to maintain for us…
GE Appliances  Electric Range Stove + GE Appliances Over-The-Range Microwave
These mango wood bar stools from Structube were the perfect addition to the black, white and grey palette Jacquelyn had suggested. At first we wanted to go with black stools, but she advised us that the wood would warm it up and ground all of the cooler black and white details. She was totally right! We love how they look in our kitchen…
Our refrigerator (c/o GE Appliances) is another one of my favourites! It is so spacious (our fridge prior was not cutting it space wise), and this one has a spot for everything. The temperature drawers for fruits and vegetables keep them regulated where they need to be to keep produce fresh. The light in the kitchen even adjusts in the evening when you’re going for a midnight snack or a glass of water so it doesn’t hurt your eyes. Neal and I love these little details!
It’s so nice to have filtered water and an ice machine built into our fridge, because we are all about saving space in our condo. I love the sleek touch screen as well!
I have a method to how we stock our fridge (which I can share more on if you’d like) and exactly how I keep everything fresher, longer. This refrigerator has so many smart pockets that make it easy to organize and store food.
I love watching Neal in the kitchen, sipping on his wine, blasting his favourite music, he puts so much love into the food he cooks. He is naturally the better chef, so this place is his haven!
The edge to edge glass on our range makes it look so chic, and nothing ever spills off the sides because of the glass GE has designed. It is so easy to clean, which is why we love it even more.
Wooden Tray: IKEA | Candle: Diptyque | Grinder: IKEA | Salt + Pepper Grinders: CB2
Dare I say this is the world’s quietest dishwasher? It is seriously amazing. All of the controls are hidden at the top, which makes it look sleek and clean to follow the rest of the design in our space.

Love it! Who painted your cabinets? Just bought a new home and am looking for referrals so we can get ours painted as well. Thanks!
It looks amazing! I love seeing budget transformations such as this one. I think it was so smart that you guys painted the cabinets and added new nobs! It looks like everything is brand new, and you didn’t have to waste the perfectly good cabinets that were already there!

This is absolutely gorgeous!!! What a transformation!
Beautiful my dear! My kitchen is over 30 years old………still have the same one needs a face lift lol.
Great transformation!!!..
It’s amazing how white can completely brighten up a space..I have a question for you.. I am wanting to paint my kitchen cupboards to achieve that same feeling of openness and brightening up a dark space. What is the material content of your cupboards?.. Are they wood or melamine?..What was the product that you used to paint them.. Thanks so much..
Great post!

Stunning space! It’s so beautiful and minimal just like I love!
I totally agree with your designer’s suggestion for the wood stools. I love a largely white space but I hate stark, dead-feeling spaces. So I’m definitely not afraid to incorporate colours to make a space feel more lived in and homey in addition to being clean and sophisticated.

how do you stock your fridge?
Would love to see how you stock your fridge. Also, what type of counter tops did you use?
Your kitchen is gorgeous, Stephanie! I love the little details and painting the cabinets white really opened up your kitchen way more compared to the original photo. Please do share how you stock your fridge!
Stunning! It’s so clean, functional and modern!
Hey Steph! Love those glass jars with the cork top – can you link those please?
I’m sort of wishing I had used black grout on my subway tile backsplash. Your kitchen looks amazing! Thanks for sharing!
I am obsessed with your countertops, what is the exact name of them so I can find a similar look?
