Carin Olsson is my kind of girl. She had a dream to live & work in Paris and made it happen. Her story is as inspiring as the beautiful images she captures through her lens, whether she’s photographing beautiful Paris or stunning fashion editorials. Just take a glimpse through her Instagram and you’ll understand just how incredibly talented Carin is with any lens you give her. I am so grateful for the time, love, creativity and energy Carin has given to our collection. These are the first prints Carin has ever produced (we hope she does more in the near future!) and we were so delighted to collaborate and evoke the beauty of Paris through charming expressions we gold foiled. You will notice the three photographs we chose to go with are not the obvious Paris-type captures like the Eiffel Tower (although it does make a whisper of a cameo in two of our prints) – but rather captures the charm of the beautiful city. The character in the gorgeous flowers and gardens around every corner. Park chairs to enjoy a cafe au lait, the view or just the one you are with. A beautiful sunrise casting upon the dreamy Parisian streets. This collection is for those who adore this incredible city, whether you have dreamed of going or visit every year (or perhaps followed your heart and moved there like Carin did), we hope these prints inspire you to fall in love and follow your dreams.
WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO MOVE TO PARIS?

I wanted a change in my life and I wanted to try something completely new. A challenge for myself. It felt like something was missing and when I realized that the cliche “life’s too short” is actually true, I couldn’t suppress my desire to move somewhere else any longer. And so I decided to move to Paris for four months to study French. A year later I moved back to the city for an indefinite amount of time.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?

What I love so much about my life here is that I don’t have any “typical days” anymore. Since I’m a freelance photographer I’m never really quite sure what the day will look like. Usually though, I often spend the morning or afternoon shooting and the rest of the day editing photos, answering e-mails and trying to keep up with my blog and my Instagram while getting to enjoy the company of my friends.

HOW HAS PARIS INFLUENCED YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY?

I guess you can say that Paris created my photography. I didn’t know that this was what i wanted to do before I moved to Paris. Paris inspired me to pick up my camera in the first place and it’s what’s inspiring me to keep going.

WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF YOUR JOB?

The best part is that I get to do what I love doing. And that I get to set my own hours, make my own schedule and by my own boss.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CAFE IN PARIS AND WHAT DO YOU ORDER?

It’s hard to only pick one in a city like Paris…but for good coffee I prefer heading over to Ten Belles or Fondation Coffee. For a more traditional take I can’t resist Carette by the beautiful Place des Vosges.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PIECE IN OUR COLLECTION AND WHY?

I just love the “Paris Je T’aime” print since that reminds me so much of the day I took the photograph and why I love Paris so much. I was walking through the beautiful Jardin du Luxembourg because I wanted to see the seasons changing in this beautiful city while getting a chance to catch my breath after traveling so much during the beginning of Fall.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE LENS TO SHOOT WITH?

I can’t get enough of my 50mm lens. Sometimes I feel boring for using it so much but it’s just so versatile and easy to work with for me.
