Every time I try to do things in my own strength, I am reminded of my weakness lately. Relying on myself to figure it all out, to hold myself together and I find God always gently reminds me, I do not have to (and what a relief). One of the verses I’ve leaned into the most this last year (I even have it included on my about page here on my blog) is:

My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect
in weakness” 2 Corinthians 12:9

I notice how God works through my weaknesses, through my tired bones and spirit and serves me fresh grace every morning. His mercies are renewed, His patience with me never grows tired and He waits to hear me call on Him each day (it’s funny, that’s all He wants). I now ask God to work through my weaknesses and strengthen me and hold me, especially on days I can’t seem to. Try whispering “help me, Jesus” to yourself when you feel overwhelmed — speaking it into audible words releases it to Him, but also a signal to your brain that you don’t have to carry it all yourself. He will. I don’t know about you, but when I remember to call on Him, He instantly sends me a wave of peace. Victory comes gradually. So many times in the bible people went through trial after trial and yet they were the ones who grew the closest to the Lord. We so want to hold on to so much ourselves, it’s hard to surrender control. The truth it, we aren’t strong enough for this life, but He can provide us strength to endure and it’s because He loves us that we won’t always enter in full abundance overnight. There are many times where you just have to wait on His answers or face trials, one after the other.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:2-4 NIV

There are many times it will feel like you can’t go on or the burdens are too heavy but I can promise you if you give them up to Him, He will give you rest. His load is light. These moments will strengthen your faith and heart if you let Him take control. You are held by grace friend.

Peace and Grace,

Stephanie
